December Daily: Christmas Day

Merry Christmas friends and family. There might be one or two of you out there that did not get a Christmas card/letter from me in real life. So for you, here is this years attempt at keeping everyone in the Hubert family loop. May you each remember the Savior this day and have hearts overflowing with gratitude and love. May your Christmas be merry and bright!

A Year of Milestones and Miracles
The Hubert Family Christmas Letter 2009

Hello family and friends. What a year we've had here in the Hubert home. We are truly grateful for the miracles that God performs in our lives. Forgiveness, grace and the atonement are at the forefront of our mind this
holiday season. This year we experienced a miracle of our own and we have certainly had our share of milestones and near miracles. We’d like to share with you just a few:
January- Milestone: Miranda turned 12 and graduated from Primary earning her Faith in God award. She is now a Young Woman.
February- Near miracles: The girls found out just before auditions that Razzle Dazzle would not be performing on a Sunday. They tried out and all got parts. Dani had a duet and did a fantastic job. The girls convinced their dad
to join in the fun and Derek was cast in his first musical. I started taking a group exercise class called Body Boot camp and did not have to be taken out on a stretcher.
March- Near miracles: We’re surviving another cold and snowy Minnesota winter. I continued Body Boot camp and started training for the Fargo 5k.
April- Milestones and near miracles: Madi turned eight and prepared for her baptism. Derek and the girls sang and danced on stage in front of hundreds in the Razzle Dazzle Revue. This was a milestone for the girls and a NEAR MIRACLE for Derek. Derek’s mom even flew out to see this possible one time only event.
May- Milestone and MIRACLE: We traveled to California for our very first vacation as a family of six that involved flying. While there Madison was baptized with her cousin Leslie. It was so much fun to see family and long time friends. Saturday May 9 was still a bit chilly for my first 5k as part of the F Marathon, but I finished under my goal time and was so very excited that I was able to run the whole way! On May 19 Kamiryn was involved in an accident while on a school field trip. Two of her fingers were crushed and severely injured. She was as brave as could be throughout the entire ordeal. The next day she assured me that her fingers would heal and that SHE WOULD have fingernails. Kamiryn insisted that this would be so because she had prayed for it. Her faith is amazing and the healing in the weeks and months to come proved to be our very own miracle. Heavenly Father heard and answered the prayers of a 5 year old little girl and those praying on her behalf. Thank you to each of you that prayed for her….our prayers were heard and answered!
June- Milestones: We ended our 4th year of homeschooling and when given a choice for next year, all 4 girls chose to continue being home educated. I ran my 2nd 5k and cut my time by almost 2 minutes.
July- Miracle and milestones: After having her fingers bandaged for 6 weeks we had a look at Kamiryn's fingers....and the fingernails that were beginning to grow. She healed without infection and with full function of both fingers. On July 4th Dani skied around Lake D and Derek went around a few times to prove that he's still got it. Also in July Derek completed his 4th triathlon! Derek and I celebrated 18 years of marriage…not sure if this is a milestone or a miracle.
August- Milestone: Derek and I ran our first 5k together. I won. :)
September- Milestone and near miracles: I ran my 4th 5k (again with Derek) and was able to cut over 6 minutes off of my first race time in May. Derek and I let Miranda go to California by herself to be a Jr. nanny for 3 weeks. We missed her terribly while she was gone, but we survived. She had a wonderful time!
October- Milestones and a near miracle: I traveled to California to reunite with Miranda and visit with family and friends. Miranda and I spent a great day together at Disneyland….just the two of us. The weekend after we got back from California I ran my first 10k. The weather conditions were less than ideal…. 28 degrees with snow flurries. I did not die.
November- Milestone: Danelle played the trombone in her first band concert as part of the 5th/6th grade band. Miranda is still playing the clarinet and participated for the first time with the Jr. High band.
Madison started piano lessons after learning several songs on her own and faithfully practices every day.
Miranda began her adventures in orthodontia. She will have braces for the next 2 years.
December- Milestone: We have now lived in our small town for 8 years. This is the longest that I have lived in any one place in my entire life. We love life here in a small town and enjoy being so close to family and the good friends that we have made here in town. The one downfall is Derek’s commute to his job at Wal-Mart an hour away, but we remind ourselves often of the blessings of employment.

We have been so incredibly blessed this year. We have had milestone, near miracles, a true miracle and countless other blessings. Heavenly Father has blessed us in so many ways, including having you as a part of our lives. We love to hear from each of you. Here is how you can keep in touch.

Merry Christmas to each of you and may the new year bring each of you milestones and miracles of your own.
Love the Hubert’s, Derek, Heather, Miranda, Danelle, Madison & Kamiryn
