My New Fishing Buddy

So this week I had the opportunity to be on a boat with 6 children and one grandpa all trying to fish at the same time. If you ever find yourself about to have the same experience, I suggest that you quickly develop a stomachache and stay on shore!!!
It was serious chaos!!!
Worm guts everywhere , fish hooks a flyin', kids whining when the fish weren't biting their line, a hard workin' grandma that was trying all at once to bait hooks, untangle lines, help little ones cast their lines and reel in fish.
We also had the dog on board and two would be helpers with their noses in books.
Oh and me with the camera.
AND THEN THERE WAS THIS LITTLE GUY.

My nephew Abram. He won the prize for sure. He watched all of the big kids for a little bit and then announced "My want to fish." So, borrowing Kamiryn's pink barbie pole he sat holding on to his (Grandmom baited and cast) rod and waited.
And waited.
Oh so patiently.......he waited. Really he had a fish in about five minutes, but for that five minutes he sat stock still. He didn't twitch, fidget, whine, get up, reel in or even talk.
He sat and watched and waited and then........"My got a fish!!!" and he obediently and calmly held on tight and reeled it in.
You have to understand that with the exception of Miranda planted in a captains chair with her Harry Potter book, all of the other children moved continuously and jostled, whined, complained, wiggled, jiggled and generally wreaked havoc on the nerves of this particular mom.
But not Abram. Fish after fish he sat nearly perfectly still and waited until the fish was firmly on his line. Then he'd announce so jubilantly, "MY GOT A FISH!" He did such a good job that all of the adults decided that he could go fishing with us anytime.
We'll just leave the rowdy kids on shore.

Good job Abram!!! Good job Heather for tackling that adventure!! I wouldn't even make it to baiting the hook! I guess that is why my kids ask me not to take them fishing!!
